Anaerobic Power

Anaerobic energy comes into play during
the first part of a workout or activity. This energy system works during the
first thirty seconds of exercise, and provides optimal power for the body. For
example, short distance sprinters would use strictly anaerobic power to run 100
metres and power lifters use anaerobic energy to lift. The body uses the ATP-PC
for its energy, as well as carbohydrates for its source of fuel. Type ll muscle
fibers work best during the anaerobic phase of exercise because that is when
the body can generate the most power. The Wingate test proves this as the
participant’s numbers always go down throughout the test, and the highest

represented by the highest power generated at a 5 second interval, which was
calculated by counting the amount of times each person pedaled during those
intervals.

 

5.    VO2 max is not fully
obtained in the Wingate Test so it is not for sure that a person with a
superior VO2 max would do better than the average person. A
VO2 max is the highest point you can go and then constantly stay at that same
level. With the Wingate Test, a person cannot stay at the same speed and
resistance that is put on during the Wingate Test for very long. The Wingate
Test is to test anaerobic capacity and power. It demands short duration and
maximal effort. The Wingate Test will use different forms of energy compared to
a normal VO2 max test.
